What We Stand Behind

Every Petrae product is manufactured to BSCI ethical labor compliance and REACH chemical safety standards — independently audited frameworks that govern both the materials we use and the conditions under which they are made. REACH compliance, issued by the European Chemical Agency, confirms that no harmful substances are present in materials that sit against your dog's skin. BSCI compliance confirms that the people who made this product worked under fair and safe conditions. These are not marketing claims. They are verified standards. Certification documentation is available on request.

Manufacturing Defects

If your product develops a manufacturing defect within 90 days of purchase — a faulty buckle, a stitching failure at the seam, a hardware fault — contact us. We will assess it and make it right. This covers defects in how the product was made, not wear that results from use over time.

Normal wear is not a defect. A set used on daily walks will show the evidence of that over time — that is what a product in use looks like. What we do not accept is a product that fails within its reasonable working life because of how it was manufactured. That distinction matters to us, and we apply it honestly.

Caring for the Petrae Signature Set

The vegan leather used in the Signature Set is selected specifically for Gulf climate conditions. Unlike traditional leather, it does not crack or warp under sustained heat — a material decision, not a compromise. With straightforward care, it holds its finish, color, and structure across daily use.

Cleaning

Wipe down with a slightly damp cloth after muddy or sandy walks. For heavier soiling, a mild soap solution applied with a cloth cleans without affecting the material surface. Allow to air dry at room temperature — do not use a hair dryer or place on a heat source.

Storage

Store away from prolonged direct sunlight when not in use. Extended UV exposure will gradually fade any material, including vegan leather. A hook in an entryway or a drawer works well. Avoid leaving the set in a parked car during summer months.

Hardware

The hardware is sealed and requires no polishing or treatment. Wipe with a dry cloth to remove dust or salt residue after beach or coastal walks. The D-rings and clasps are designed to maintain their finish under regular use without intervention.

Caring for the Petrae City Walk Set

The neoprene used in the City Walk Set is breathable and built for active use in Gulf conditions — including beach walks, daylight summer walks, and high-humidity mornings. It is the material chosen precisely because it moves heat away from the body rather than trapping it.

Cleaning

Rinse with cool water after beach or dusty walks. For deeper cleaning, hand wash with a small amount of mild soap and rinse thoroughly. Squeeze gently — do not wring — and allow to air dry fully before storage or next use. Do not machine wash. Do not tumble dry.

Storage

Ensure the set is fully dry before storing. Damp neoprene stored in an enclosed space will develop odor over time. A well-ventilated spot — a hook, an open shelf — is ideal. Avoid prolonged storage in direct sun, which can affect color over time.

Hardware and bags

Wipe the hardware and integrated bags clean with a damp cloth. The bag zippers should be rinsed after beach use to clear salt and sand from the mechanism. Dry before closing.

A Note for Longevity

Both sets are designed for daily use, not occasional wear. The Signature Set's vegan leather is rated for consistent outdoor wear in Gulf temperatures without the cracking that limits traditional leather in this climate. The City Walk Set's neoprene maintains its structure and breathability across regular washing cycles.

How long a product lasts depends in part on how it is used. A dog that pulls consistently will stress the hardware more than one that walks loosely. We have built for real use — not display — and we'd rather you understand what that means and how to maintain it than oversell a lifespan and have you discovered the limits on a walk six months from now.
